Spooky Season Safety: Makeup Do’s and Don’ts with Lash Extensions

We love Halloween at The Blooming Rose! But every year, on November 1st, we see a few "horror stories"—not from ghosts, but from Halloween makeup that ruined a beautiful set of lash extensions.

If you are planning a costume, please follow these rules to save your lashes (and your wallet).

The #1 Enemy: Strip Lash Glue

Please, we beg you—do not glue strip lashes on top of your extensions to make them "dramatic" for a costume. The glue from the strip lashes gets tangled in the volume fans and creates a sticky mess that is almost impossible to clean out without removing the extensions entirely.

  • The Alternative: If you want extra drama for one night, ask us about adding a few temporary "spikes" at your fill, or use a colored eyeliner on your lid (not the lashes!) to create the effect.

Avoid Oil-Based Face Paint

Many grease paints and cheap Halloween makeup kits are oil-based. If this migrates to your eyes, it will dissolve your adhesive bond.

  • The Alternative: Look for water-activated face paints or water-based makeup.

Be Careful with Glitter

Loose glitter is a nightmare for eyes. It can get trapped in the lash line and cause irritation or corneal scratches.

  • The Alternative: Use chunky glitter gel placed well away from the lash line, or use a high-quality shimmer shadow instead.

Have fun, be spooky, but keep those lashes safe!
