Summer in Utah means pool parties, trips to the lake, and... heat. While we love the sunshine, we know it brings up a lot of questions about lash retention.
One of the most common myths we hear is: "You can't swim with lash extensions."
We are here to bust that myth! You absolutely can live your best summer life with lashes, but you need to follow a few "summer rules" to keep them looking fresh.
Rule #1: The Salt & Chlorine Rinse
Chlorine and salt water can be drying to the lash adhesive (and your natural hair!). We don't want the glue to become brittle.
The Fix: After you get out of the pool or the ocean, rinse your lashes with fresh water immediately. Keep a bottle of water in your beach bag just for this!
Rule #2: Watch Your Sunscreen
This is the silent lash killer. Many sunscreens contain oils that break down lash adhesive, causing extensions to slide right off.
The Fix: Avoid spraying sunscreen directly on your face. Spray it into your hands and pat it on, avoiding the immediate eye area. Look for "oil-free" face sunscreens whenever possible.
Rule #3: Intense Heat
Be careful when opening the oven or sitting too close to a bonfire or BBQ grill. Extreme heat can actually singe the tips of synthetic lash extensions, causing them to curl or frizz.
The Fix: Just take a half-step back!
Going on a Long Vacation?
If you are traveling for longer than 3 weeks and won’t be able to come in for a fill, consider switching to a shorter, more natural style for the summer, or try a Lash Lift. A Lift is impervious to water and oil, making it the ultimate carefree vacation option.
